Snoop Dogg & Dâm-Funk
7 Days of Funk is the name of Cali-duo Snoopzilla and producer Da?m-Funk’s latest project. Snoopzilla (a homage to funk legend Bootzilla) a.k.a. Snoop Lion a.k.a. Snoop Dogg has finally left Jamaica and is back in Long Beach, where he belongs.
In what they call ”a project”, Snoop and Da?m-Funk is trying to create the lost vibe of the 70’s funk scene. Not calling it retro, the aim is to keep the funk alive by picking it up where it left off before going commecial in the 80’s and 90’s.
Overall, the quality of the album is a bit uneven. Although, on tracks like ”Faden Away” and ”Hit Da Pavement” it actually sounds really good.
When the low-key sound comes togheter with Snoopzillas hazy raps it creates the feeling of a smooth ride through an imaginary sunset in suburbs of 1970’s LA.
